Welcome to Strangelist! The new segment in which I (or we, if you join), post all of the strange finds in the car section of your local classifieds.
That's right! It's back! After seeing that people enjoyed !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I decided to return again today.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Remember: I will post the day before's finds. For instance, all cars I find on the 23rd will be listed on the 24ths post. Without further ado, let's begin!
First, we have a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , AKA: Ugly ass yet reliable car.
This Sentra currently has 170,000 miles on the odometer. It is an automatic with the four cylinder engine. Really, this would be a great first car for a kid on a budget. Why? The price is only $750!
Why is it a good find? The wording in the ad.
1993 Nissan Sentra, 4 cylinder, auto, 170k miles. If you are a person with style, class and taste looking for an elegant vehicle to represent your lifestyle, then you are definitely looking at the wrong ad.
If you are however pretty broke and just need a cheap @ss yet reliable car to get around town, then this baby is for you. Good tires, cold AC, starts every time. Its ugly, but sure as hell beats riding the bus and definitely beats walking.
Clear title in hand, bring your $750 and drive it home in style. OK so I was lying about the style part, but not the $750. Thats the price... not $400, not $500, not even $749, but $750. I've seen the crap some people try to sell on here and this car is definitely nicer than some most of the sub-$1000 turds I have seen people advertising.
Bottom line this car wont get you laid, but it will get you and 3 of your friends to work/church/school/NA meeting/PRIDE/Strip-club/Disneyland or all of the above reliably and affordably.
XXX-XXX-XXXX
I loved the honesty of the ad. It is't pretty. But it is cheap reliable transportation.
Next, we have a car I have never heard of (and I'm big into knowing all car models, so it is pretty uncommon). It is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
It looks to me like the precurser to the A4 Avant, but I really have no clue. This example was driven, however. A lot. It has 190,000 miles on it. However, last year the whole engine was rebuilt by certified VW mechanics with original parts. Also replaced were the tires, suspension, shocks, sensors, brake pads, and some electrical. It has a 10 disc cd changer, sunroof, leather, and power everything.
I also love the message on the dashboard: OK
The seller is asking $2,000 firm for this ride. He claims he spent over $4000 restoring it, but again it doesn't matter what you put into it.
Why is it strange? I have never heard of this car (wagon) before. It also seems like a cool vehicle to own.
Lastly, we have a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Although it looks innocent from this picture, a lot is wrong. It has 130,000 miles currently and some bits are showing it. This is also a Land Rover, so it isn't the most reliable or cheap thing to maintain. The seller claims that the body and interior are in fair condition. I personally believe it is worse. Just look!
How does that happen? Did a dog take a big bite out of it?
The grille is also beaten up quite badly.
The engine is also not very pretty. It looks like it is covered in limestone. How does that happen?
It has a few warning lights on, but the owner claims that they are not serious and don't affect its driveability. KBB values a fair condition version at $5000. He is asking $4000. Is it worth it?
Why is it strange? I have never seen body damage like that on a truck before. Also, that engine looks horrible. I also love that it has warning lights on, but he doesn't care.
As always, thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing versions of Strangelist from your town real soon!
NOTE: I would like to apologize for the double (maybe triple) posting of this article and its spelling mistakes. It appears that Kinja posted my draft version at 11 AM and then scheduled it to posted again at 3:30 AM that same day. That is why there are many spelling mistakes. This version, posted at 12:30 PM on 9/13/13 is the final.

That 100 became the A6 in 95 or 96. They didnt change a damn thing up till 98. and to confuse everything the original S4 was built on the 100, and the original iteration of the S6 was built on it too.
